A publican couple have moved to a new pub in Sherborne and renovated the premises in time for the summer.
Hannah and Lee Steele previously managed Skippers, but moved to the Britannia Inn after their rent at the Horsecastles pubs was raised mid-pandemic.
While the couple briefly considered leaving hospitality, they described being motivated to find another establishment in the area after receiving a barrage of messages and emails from community members encouraging them to stay in the town.

Mrs Steele said: “The response and the support from the community was enough to give us the drive to stay within hospitality and in the town centre.
“We knew that people would support us here, which they have – everyone has been through the door.
“We are following the same sort of vibe here, it’s a traditional pub with home cooked food.”

The Steeles reopened the doors of the Westbury pub over the May Bank Holiday
The Steeles reopened the doors of the Westbury pub over the May Bank Holiday after completing an extensive refurbishment.
The pub and its five en suite letting rooms have been transformed, with new paint, carpets, furniture.
The pub’s suntrap beer garden has also been extended and had a decking area installed.
Mrs Steele said: “Obviously with Covid-19, everybody wants to be able to sit outside and I think it’s really important.
“There aren’t many pubs in Sherborne that have outside space, so we’re lucky in that respect and we’re trying to utilize it as much as we possibly can to keep everybody as safe as possible.”
The pub will then have lit log fires during the winter months, where customers can curl up over a Sunday roast.
Mrs Steele added: “We’ve tried to be a bit different in regards to our beers and what we sell. We’ve got Corona on draft, which is a really popular one, and we try to have a good variety.”
The Admiral-owned pub is also family and dog friendly.
