Tormented with no new games to play on your PS5? It looks like the PlayStation Store should be your first port of call today.
A new next-gen experience is arriving in August, and the good news is that you can find out whether you want to buy the full version before it hits shelves.
Tormented Souls is a new survival horror game that will be available to download and play on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC platforms.
However, as a big treat for PlayStation owners, a new demo has been released that can be installed from the PS Store today.
This new offering from PQube does not have a timer attached, meaning you can decide when you fancy playing it without it disappearing before the full game’s release.
However, the game only features a limited amount of gameplay, meaning it will end when you reach a certain point.
Tormented Souls will be available to buy on PS5 on August 27 and won’t cost as much as the big AAA games.
More of an indie title than the other big hitters arriving in 2021, Tormented Souls is described as a Survival Horror game inspired by the original Resident Evil and Alone in the Dark series.
The team have also promised that while the gameplay will share similarities, it won’t share the dated graphics or clunky controls.
The full game description provides the clearest idea of what Tormented Souls will play like, explaining:
“Something Evil Lurks at Winterlake – While investigating the disappearance of twin girls at Winterlake – something terrible happens to Caroline Walker. Waking in the dead of night, naked in a bathtub and hooked up to some decrepit medical equipment, Caroline must fight for her life as she explores the halls of an abandoned Mansion.
“Tormented Souls deliberately sets out to draw inspiration from classic survival horror. From Resident Evil and Silent Hill, to Alone in the Dark. Tormented Souls is a modern take on the fixed-perspective adventure, offering a modernised control scheme and a more dynamic camera, while retaining everything that made those games so beloved by fans.
“Dark forces and unspeakable horrors will do everything in their power to stop Caroline from getting to the truth. Use anything and everything that you can find to fight back against the evils that wait in the darkness.”
And Tormented Souls isn’t the only big PlayStation Store update to keep track of this week.
It has also been confirmed that the next major expansion for Marvel’s Avengers will be hitting the PS Store this week.
Black Panther – War for Wakanda will launch on August 17th as a free update to all owners of the core game.
Marvel’s Avengers was recently given a free trial and there’s a chance that more will be offered during 2021.
In addition to adding Black Panther, the War for Wakanda Expansion also brings with it new Villains, a brand-new environment to explore, new enemies, the Royal Palace Outpost, new solo or multiplayer Drop Zone and Threat Sector missions.
The Marvel’s Avengers War Table for Wakanda will go live on August 16th, one day before the Expansion launches.
And gamers can expect more surprise free-content to arrive in the PlayStation Store for PS4 and PS5 later in 2021.
