Puregym has revealed when it will open a brand new site in Yeovil.
The national gym firm will take up residence at a former Mothercare site on Houndstone Business Park next year.
The Mothercare site closed in early 2019 and the large premises has been vacant ever since.

This week, a spokesman for Puregym has confirmed the new Yeovil branch will be opening “in the first quarter of 2022”.
The spokesman explained: “The unit will give us about 17,000 sq. ft. spread over two floors and will cater for everyone’s exercise needs with a large functional zone, free weights, fixed resistance, cardio equipment and a spin studio.”
Planning documents show proposed new frontage of Puregym site in Yeovil
On March 10, South Somerset District Council issued a lawful development certificate which confirmed the site benefitted from unrestricted Class E (Commercial, Business and Service) use and that planning permission was not required for its use as a gym.
Despite this, Puregym has submitted two separate planning applications to the council seeking to make minor alterations to the site.
The proposed changes include new bi-folding entrance doors to form part of a secure entry system, new escape doors, new cycle parking facilities comprising three cycle stands, and a replacement air-conditioning plant.
Puregym is also seeking permission to add new signage to the front of the building.
