More than 500 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Somerset, according to the latest official figures released on Wednesday (August 11).
There were 508 new infections in the latest 24-hour recording period – up from 280 yesterday.
Sedgemoor saw the biggest increase, with 126 new cases, followed by North Somerset with 96.

There were 78 in Bath and North East Somerset, 72 in both Somerset West and Taunton and South Somerset and 64 in Mendip.
The new cases of the virus bring the overall total for Somerset to 29,399.
One new death within 28 days of a positive Covid test was recorded in Mendip, while Bath and North East Somerset saw its total fall by one.
The number of positive test results in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new positive test results in brackets.
- Bath and North East Somerset: 13,757 (+78)
- Mendip: 5,372 (+64)
- North Somerset: 15,357 (+96)
- Sedgemoor: 7,519 (+126)
- Somerset West and Taunton: 8,091 (+72)
- South Somerset: 8,108 (+72)
The number of deaths recorded in each area of Somerset since the beginning of the pandemic are as follows:
- Bath and North East Somerset: 230 (-1*)
- Mendip: 164 (+1)
- North Somerset: 322 (+1)
- Sedgemoor: 168 (-)
- Somerset West and Taunton: 197 (-)
- South Somerset: 162 (-)
*A decrease usually indicates a revision of past data.
Nationally, the Government said a further 104 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Wednesday, bringing the UK total to 130,607.
Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 155,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
As of 9am on Wednesday, there had been a further 29,612 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK.
Of the 86,969,109 Covid jabs given in the UK up to August 10, 47,129,400 were first doses, a rise of 37,511 on the previous day.
Some 39,839,709 were second doses, an increase of 151,143.
