Hull City’s home campaign will this evening begin with the same opponent that brought down the curtain on their short-lived but joyous League One stay back in early May.
Grant McCann’s Tigers host Wigan Athletic in the first round of the Carabao Cup and they’ll do so in front of supporters, albeit a much smaller crowd than we expect for the first home encounter of the Championship season this weekend when QPR visit.
City twice faced Wigan last term, winning 5-0 at the DW Stadium in mid-February before that thrilling 3-1 win over the Latics which sealed the title, and also the visitors’ future in the third tier following a difficult campaign.
McCann’s men will hope to secure their safe passage through to Wednesday night’s draw for Round Two.
Between now and kick-off at 7:45pm we’ll bring you all the big build-up followed by team news at 6:45pm and then full match coverage followed by reaction.
