Jordan Flores has completed a swift exit from Hull City, in a move which enables Grant McCann to further strengthen his squad, while Festus Arthur has moved to Barrow on loan.
Flores was a January arrival at City last season having left Irish outfit Dundalk, though he failed to earn a single start for the Tigers in the second half of the League One campaign.
The midfielder was on a contract at the MKM Stadium until the end of this season, but after completing a season-long loan move to Sixfields, Flores had effectively played his last game for the Tigers.
His loan move has now been converted into a permanent one after both parties opted to mutually cancel his deal, and given the transfer restrictions McCann is operating under, Flores’ squad place can now be given to Manchester City youngster Matt Smith, who is expected to be confirmed as the club’s seventh summer arrival on Friday.

“All parties were in favour of this and so we have changed the loan to a one year contract,” said manager Jon Brady.
“Jordan has settled in well in pre-season and this gives both him and us the certainty he will be with us for the season.
“We always prefer, where possible, to have players on a permanent contract with the club and we are pleased to have secured Jordan’s services on a more permanent basis.”
Smith has been training with the Tigers this week in preparation for Saturday’s season opener at Preston North End, and his arrival is not expected to the last before the transfer window closes on August 31 at 11pm.
Arthur has been a regular for City this pre-season having returned from injury over the summer, but will now spend the entirety of the campaign on loan at League Two side Barrow, freeing up another spot in McCann’s squad.
