Hull KR’s results since the COVID outbreak haven’t reaped any rewards in terms of league points or percentages.
A two-point loss in France followed by a seven-point loss on Monday against the Catalan Dragons who have now won 12 games consecutively. Catalan will not lose many games between now and the end of the season and look likely to be contesting at Old Trafford in the biggest game of the season, the Grand Final.
It is no disgrace to lose to the Dragons and the performances probably warranted more in terms of wins and win percentage.
It reiterates to me that the mentality of the Robins under Tony Smith is that they enter every game believing they will win.
They are now outside of the top six play-off places, however the eight games remaining in my opinion could and will see them book a play-off place and if you have a ticket for the big one you’re in with a chance of winning the biggest prize.
This Sunday’s game in Leigh is a huge game for the red and whites. I believe it is a must-win game in terms of the play-off places. Leigh still without a win in Super League are a team that Hull KR whilst avoiding complacency should be beating if their ambitions of making the play-offs are to be taken seriously which I believe they are.
It is win at all costs this Sunday for Hull KR before a couple of games against teams above them on the table. Wigan at home next followed by a trip to the arch enemies over the river in a derby game where the outcome is never a forgone conclusion.
The five remaining fixtures in August will in my opinion shape the Hull KR Super League finish in 2021.
